Unbelievable: Sky Sports analyst picks Sam Byram joins Leeds United

Sky Sports pundit David Putton believes Leeds United going for free agent Sam Bryam makes “financial sense “and would be a “worthy addition” to Daniel Farke’s team.

The Whites academy graduate, who is gaining fitness at the club after leaving Norwich City at the end of last season, came on in the 65th minute in the 2-0 defeat to Ligue 1 side Monaco at York City’s LNER Stadium on 22 July.

The 29-year-old full-back may be hoping to make a return to Elland Road in a permanent deal under Farke after leaving West Yorkshire for West Ham seven years ago.

And according to Prutton, taking to his Yorkshire Evening Post column (24 July) writes that Elland Road could be the best place for Byram to continue his career with his attitude and character a worth addition.

He said:

“We saw another ‘new’ face in Saturday’s friendly against Monaco in the return of Sam Byram who has been training with Leeds after his Norwich City release.

“He has had injuries and miles on the clock but the player that we know that Sam Byram can be would be a worthy addition to what Leeds can do.

Also, financially it might make more sense when you have got a player who is in a slightly different position and can’t come in and start commanding everything that they want.

“If Sam is looking to kickstart his career then a place that he knows all about and a club that would hopefully cater and care for his needs could potentially be the best place for him.

Experience and know-how key

With the Whites set to undergo another gruelling and difficult season back in the Sky Bet Championship, Farke is going to need all the experience and know-how of the division he can get.

The 29-year-old full-back is the perfect tonic given all he achieved under the German at Norwich City. Byram has so recorded 151 games in the Championship, registering an impressive 10 goals and 12 assists highlighting his influence and experience at such a level.

This is a transfer Leeds United must get done this summer.

It’s all well and good to be acquiring the glitz and glamour transfers with Farke hoping to play some attractive brand of football at Elland Road but the moves for players fans don’t necessarily expect or consider the best deals are just as important.

Byram with all his experience, knowledge of the Championship and incredible versatility he’d certainly make a worthy addition to the cause in West Yorkshire.
