Aston Villa eye incredible reunion with powerful winger as unexpected free transfer takes shape

Aston Villa are weighing up the idea of offering Adama Traore a second spell at the club after he was released by Wolves, according to a report.

Traore is a free agent after his contract with Wolves expired. According to Football Insider, he still has a renewal offer on the table, but it could entail a decrease in salary. Therefore, the well-built winger will be considering his options.

Football Insider claims he has now become a surprise target for his former employers at Aston Villa. After he left Barcelona in 2015, it was the Villans who gave Traore his first taste of English football.

However, he failed to score in 10 Premier League appearances in the season Aston Villa suffered relegation from the Premier League. In fact, his only goal for the club came in the League Cup.

Subsequently, in August 2016, he moved to Middlesbrough, who were still in the Premier League themselves at the time.

For the second season in a row, though, Traore was part of a relegated squad and failed to score along the way, despite making 27 top-flight appearances.

After a more promising season in the Championship, Wolves gave him his third chance in the Premier League in 2018. He was on their books for five years, which included a six-month loan spell back at Barcelona in the first half of 2022 and ended with 10 Premier League goals from 157 appearances.

Renowned for his power and pace, if not his cutting edge, Traore could still be worth moving for, especially since he is available on a free transfer.
