When Hugo Lloris announced that his time at Tottenham was now up despite having a year left on his contract, perhaps he was thinking numerous clubs would jump at the chance to sign him.
So far, however, that hasn’t been the case, even if a few clubs have come forward with timid approaches, like Paris Saint-Germain, as recalled by L’Equipe.
The Ligue 1 side were looking for a new goalkeeper after the injury to Sergio Rico and the belief Keylor Navas is unlikely to want to keep playing second fiddle to Gianluigi Donnarumma.
That’s why they targeted the Tottenham veteran, but the official announcement of the arrival of Arnau Tennis on a free transfer has put an end to that chance for Lloris.
The French newspaper explain that the opportunity to sign the 22-year-old after his contract with Barcelona ran out was simply too good to pass up, and this despite talks with those who manage former France international’s career.
They add that ‘in recent days’, Luis Campos, the man in charge of transfers at the Ligue 1 side, ‘continued to maintain contact with the entourage’ of the Tottenham player.
In the end, he opted for the young option, who seemingly has the aim to dethrone Donnarumma in the long-run, as Paris Saint-Germain decided to go for potential over experience.
