Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is driving the club’s interest in signing Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, according to the Evening Standard.
The 23-year-old midfielder spent the latter half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace and made nine appearances for the club.
He is not a big part of Mikel Arteta’s plans going forward and Arsenal are open to letting him go in the ongoing transfer window.
Several clubs are interested in getting their hands on the Belgian midfielder this summer.
However, Burnley are leading the race to sign Lokonga from Arsenal at this stage of the transfer window.
Another loan move or a permanent sale could be on the cards for Lokonga, who has struggled to break into the team at Arsenal.
Kompany is driving Burnley’s interest in signing the player as he pushes to bring in more additions this summer.
He managed Lokonga at Anderlecht and has remained a keen admirer of the midfield player in the ongoing window.
Burnley are pushing to work out a deal with Arsenal for the signature of Lokonga this summer.
