‘KEEN ON THE MOVE’: FABRIZIO ROMANO DROPS OVERNIGHT TRANSFER CLAIM ABOUT WEST HAM UNITED

Fabrizio Romano has shared that West Ham United have ‘rejected’ Inter’s initial approach to sign their striker, Gianluca Scamacca.

The Italian journalist says the 2023 Champions League finalists have put in a bid of ‘£17.1 million’ for the struggling West Ham United player and he is ‘keen on the move’.

But he added on Twitter that those in the London Stadium boardroom want close to ‘£25 million’ for the hard-hitting 24-year-old striker.

Last summer, the Hammers paid a tad over £35 million (Sky Sports) for Gianluca Scamacca, in the hope he could finally be the answer to their striker woes.

But, just like many, many before him, the Italian struggled and only managed to score three goals in the Premier League.

That’s why it isn’t a surprise that there is a chance that he heads for the exit door this summer, with Romano posting this transfer update overnight.

“West Ham have rejected Inter’s initial approach for €20m (£17.1m) plus add-ons for Gianluca Scamacca,” said Romano.

“Inter will return with a new proposal in the next days, close to €25m (£21m) package — West Ham’s asking price is understood to be around €30m (£25m). Scamacca, keen on the move.”

Time for Scamacca to move on

West Ham and the player just need to bite the bullet and acknowledge that this hasn’t worked and won’t work ahead of the new Premier League season kicking off.

There are some suggesting and calling for the ‘top player’ to stay put and try to make a name for himself.

But Scamacca should look towards a certain Sebastian Haller and how he has balled ever since he struggled at West Ham, before leaving and making a name for himself at Ajax and Dortmund.
