AC Milan forward Charles De Ketelaere is reportedly on the radar of West Ham United this summer.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (print edition August 2nd, page 17), West Ham are ‘moving towards’ AC Milan attacker Charles De Ketelaere in the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old has already been linked with a move to the London Stadium this summer – in fact, we made contact to sign him last month.
Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his attacking ranks at the London Stadium before the start of the new season.
And it seems as though De Ketelaere could be the man who the Scot settles on signing…
West Ham ‘moving towards’ signing AC Milan star Charles De Ketelaere for £24 million after goalless 2022/23 season
Gazzetta dello Sport reckon that the Hammers are keen on signing the Belgian forward, and AC Milan are demanding around €28 million (£24 million) for him.
De Ketelaere is an attacking midfielder by trade but he can also operate on the wing or up front.
The 22-year-old is extremely talented, but word of warning, he was absolutely terrible for Milan last season.
He received endless criticism for his performances for the Rossoneri, with just one assist and zero goals in 40 games last season (Transfermarkt).
That will be a huge red flag for West Ham, if we are in fact weighing up a £24 million move to sign Charles De Ketelaere.
However, sometimes you just have to take risks in this game. He bagged 14 goals and seven assists in 43 games for Club Brugge’s during his final season with the Belgian outfit (Transfermarkt).
So he certainly has the talent. Whether or not Moyes is prepared to take a punt on a player who is unproven in the Premier League remains to be seen though.
