According to reports, Tottenham are stepping up their interest in Torino defender Perr Schuurs, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
While the Harry Kane saga has been rumbling on in the background, Tottenham have been busy in the transfer market themselves and they have made some good signings.
Around £120m has been spent to sign James Maddison, Pedro Porro, Dejan Kulusevski, Guglielmo Vicario and Manor Solomon on permanent deals and they are far from finished yet.
Clement Lenglet’s loan has expired and Davinson Sanchez is being linked with a move elsewhere so Ange Postecoglou is looking to sign one or two new centre-backs.
Schuurs made a positive impact for Torino in Serie A last season following his switch from Dutch giants Ajax in 2022.
Liverpool are focused on signing new midfielders this summer but they are also keen to recruit a young centre-back who can compete with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
The Premier League giants have been heavily linked with Schuurs this summer but it was claimed last month that Crystal Palace have reached an ‘agreement’ to sign the €40m-rated defender amid reports linking Marc Guehi with a move elsewhere.
But talk over a move to Palace has gone quiet in recent weeks and DAZN reporter Orazio Accomando is now claiming that Tottenham have ‘come forward again’ for Schuurs.
Spurs are ‘willing to raise their offer’ to Torino and the player in an attempt to get a deal over the line. The defender ‘has not asked for a transfer’ but he is ‘waiting for new developments’.
