Report: Leeds one of six English clubs eyeing £9m Championship winner, Wolves make approach

A report from TeamTalk claims Leeds United are one of six clubs interested in signing Burnley star Josh Brownhill, along with Premier League clubs Everton, Wolves and Crystal Palace. His deal ends in 2024.

Brownhill, 27, has impressed over the last three and a half years at Burnley – joining them from Bristol City in 2020 for a fee of £9m. Last season saw him produce his best, as Burnley won the Championship.

Playing 48 times in all competitions, and captaining Burnley nine times, Brownhill had a hand in 17 goals – scoring seven goals and 10 assists. A key component in Vincent Kompany’s title-winning Burnley side.

But his future is in doubt. With his deal ending in 2024, clubs are interested. TeamTalk say six English clubs are keen. Wolves have made an approach with Gary O’Neil looking to bring in some new faces.

However, Leeds and Wolves are not the only clubs looking at Brownhill. Everton and Crystal Palace want him in the Premier League. Middlesbrough and Leicester want to take him back to the Championship.

The Whites still need new midfield signings. To lose Adam Forshaw, Weston McKennie, Marc Roca and most-likely, Tyler Adams before the deadline – it is not enough to only bring in newbie Ethan Ampadu.

Archie Gray has been promoted. But behind those two, next up is Darko Gyabi, Jamie Shackleton and Lew Bate. The latter dup really need to go on loan, and Gyabi might not be ready. New signings needed.

Brownhill is exactly the kind of player Leeds should be looking at. Perfect, to go alongside Ampadu. A player with Championship winning know how. Can score. Aggressive. But, he has more attractive suitors.
