Sean Dyche wants to reunite with Burnley midfielder at Everton

Everton want to sign Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill and reunite him with boss Sean Dyche this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

Writing on their official website (17 August), the news outlet report that the 27-year-old is “increasingly likely” to leave Turf Moor after failing to agree an extension to his contract which expires next summer.

Dyche signed Brownhill for Burnley in January 2020 and would be keen to reunited with the central midfielder, although the Toffees face stiff competition from several other clubs.

“Wolves are ready to test Burnley’s resolve to keep midfield star Josh Brownhill, TEAMtalk understands,” they wrote.

“And while Vincent Kompany would ideally like to keep the Warrington-born star, his contract situation means a sale remains a strong possibility.

“And with just 12 months left on his current deal, a number of clubs are looking closely at Brownhill, with the Clarets keen to avoid losing the player as a free agent next summer.

“But they are not Brownhill’s only admirers. We also understand that Crystal Palace, Everton, Leeds, Leicester and Middlesbrough are also keen.”

No shock

Any time a player who used to play for Burnley under Dyche is going to be on the move that player is going to be linked with a move to Everton.

Dyche is known to have a very particular style of play and he trusts players forever, hence the huge love he has for the likes of Michael Keane, James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeil already.

Brownhill was left out of the Burnley squad for the opening Premier League game of the season, a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, and it seems sure now that his time at the club has come to an end.

If Everton want to do a deal then it likely wouldn’t be too expensive and would be a player with Premier League experience who knows exactly what the manager demands and expects.

It could be a shrewd bit of business to boost options in midfield for the upcoming campaign and a way to save money financially too, so it’s one to keep an eye on definitely.
