Stoke City Transfer news from the bet365 Stadium as the continue major summer rebuild

Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt insists there is “nothing to speak of” amid speculation that star striker Dion Charles is wanted by Stoke City and Watford.

Charles hit 21 goals for Bolton last season as they challenged for promotion from League One and bagged another couple for Northern Ireland into the bargain. The 27-year-old’s ability to lead the press has won him admirers, and he has been linked with a late summer window move to the Championship.

But after Alex Neil was spotted in the crowd for Bolton’s mid-week win over Fleetwood, Evatt says no bids have been placed – even if they have a contingency plan in case of activity over the next fortnight.

Evatt told The Bolton News: “I don’t get any sense from Dion that he wishes to leave this football club. He loves being here and his relationship with the club and the fans is excellent.

“Obviously players and managers are always linked at this time of year, especially when they are doing well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see our players linked or perhaps bid for, but we’ll always make the best decision for Bolton Wanderers. Right now, there is nothing to speak of.”

Evatt added: “It’s great that our players are being linked with other clubs, especially those higher up, because it means that they are doing pretty well, and the team is doing pretty well.”

Charles was dismissed for two yellow cards against Fleetwood and will be suspended for a home game against Wigan Athletic on Saturday lunchtime.
