The Terriers will travel to the West Midlands towards the end of September and that game will now be a Monday evening kick-off after it was picked for broadcast
The Terriers’ first featured televised game of the new Championship season has been announced, with the trip to Coventry City towards the end of September moved to a Monday night kick off.
Originally scheduled for 3pm on Saturday September 23, the clash between the past two defeated play-off finalists will now be played on Monday September 25 in an 8pm kick-off after being selected by Sky Sports for live feature coverage.
Huddersfield Town lost both of their games against Coventry City last season, with their much-delayed trip to the Coventry Building Society Arena ending in a 2-0 defeat for Mark Fotheringham’s side.
Neil Warnock replaced the Scot soon after, but the reverse fixture at the John Smith’s Stadium ended in a four-goal victory for Mark Robins’ rampant Sky Blues on his former managerial stomping grounds.
That defeat seemed to have effectively condemned Town to League One, plunging them to a position no second-tier side had ever survived from before; but Warnock subsequently inspired an incredible turnaround, with 21 points from the final ten games of the season more than enough to steer them clear of the drop.
Coventry meanwhile went on to reach a Wembley showdown with Luton Town in the play-off final, but – like Town the year before – they came away broken-hearted, suffering a penalty shootout defeat after coming from behind in a 1-1 draw.
Both sides have lost to Leicester in the opening games of the new campaign, with Town also losing to Plymouth on the opening day and Coventry beating Middlesbrough 3-0 last weekend. Warnock will be hoping for a similar result when he takes his side to the Riverside Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
