Tottenham LB admits he’s banking on home advantage

Talented left-back Destiny Udogie has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur will be banking on home advantage to secure the three points when they face off with Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Lilywhites played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Brentford in their Premier League opener, with Udogie making his competitive debut for the north London club from the very beginning of the game.

The Super Eagles target got the nod to start at left-back after catching the eye of manager Ange Postecoglou during pre-season preparations.

Manchester United head into the game as favourites on paper as they are unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches against Tottenham Hotspur, winning four and drawing once.

Tottenham Hotspur have a descent home record, having won six of their last nine home games and were forced to a 2-2 draw by Manchester United in their antepenultimate home game in 2022-2023.

Udogie has suggested that home advantage could be the difference in what is expected to be a keenly contested affair.

Speaking to Sky Sports UK, the Italian-Nigerian remarked: “Manchester United we know are a very good team.”

“But we are playing at home so we have to be focused on ourselves, have a good game and bring home three points.”

Manchester United secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their first game of the season, with Frenchman Raphael Varane heading home the winning goal in the 76th minute.
