Sarr and Bissouma share Player of the Match award following United win

Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma have been named as your HSBC Players of the Match following their imposing midfield displays in our 2-0 win over Manchester United on Saturday.

With so many top performances across the pitch as we defeated United for the first time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, fans were spoilt for choice when it came to picking their top performer from the game – and that showed in the results of our poll as, for the first time, the Player of the Match award is shared as Yves and Pape picked up the same vote share.

Both claiming 34 per cent of the vote in an exclusive poll on the our official app straight after the game, Pape picks up his first Player of the Match award since signing for us from Metz in 2021. Yves, meanwhile, picks up his second award in as many games this season having also taken the prize following our opening weekend draw with Brentford. The midfielder also claimed the Premier League’s Player of the Match award, just as he did against the Bees.

Pape enjoyed an unforgettable afternoon in Lilywhite as he scored his first ever goal for the Club, firing in our opener on 49 minutes. The young Senegal international also helped us dominate in the key midfield battle while supporting in defensive duties on the right channel, notably snuffing out two United counter attacks late on in the second period. He also took on more shots that any other Spurs player (five).

Yves, meanwhile, once again proved something of a metronome for our play, continually being available to move the ball around across the midfield or even his ability to drive forward on the ball and into the final third. Only one player (Cristian Romero – 91) enjoyed more touches than Yves (77) and only two players (Guglielmo Vicario – 92 – and Micky van de Ven -93) enjoyed a better pass success rate than the Mali international (88), while no player made more tackles than him (five).
