Everton transfer news emerges ahead of Wolves clash in Premier League

Alan Myers believes there is a possibility that Everton will add to their squad ahead of the Premier League clash with Wolves on Saturday 26 August.

The Toffees are bottom of the Premier League after following up a 1-0 loss to Fulham on the opening weekend with a 4-0 defeat at Aston Villa.

As Myers himself has stated, a new centre-back and at least one new striker should be at the top of the club’s wishlist.

The Merseyside outfit have made a poor start to the new campaign, finding themselves without a point or a goal after two rounds of matches.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin returned from injury to start against Villa, but he failed to last the first half after suffering a facial injury.

Even if the England international makes a swift return to action, he simply cannot be relied upon to lead Everton’s attack. Sean Dyche knows as much, explaining why Everton have been so desperate to bring in Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United.

After having four offers knocked back, however, that transfer has now collapsed [Mike Keegan], meaning focus must turn elsewhere.

Che Adams is expected to arrive from Southampton in a £15million deal [The Telegraph], but that signing alone will not save Everton’s season.

The major worry for Dyche is that the window closes in 11 days’ time, meaning the clock is fast ticking to land those other targets.

After plenty of relegation near-misses in recent times, the Toffees will surely not be so lucky this time around unless swift action is taken.
