Big development after agent of ‘the beast’ flew for talks with West Ham and Palace

There’s been a big development after the agent of ‘the beast’ Ivan Fresneda flew to London yesterday for talks with West Ham and Crystal Palace.

Last week Hammers News reported on West Ham’s interest in signing Spanish right-back Ivan Fresneda.

Chelsea had also been linked with the powerful 18-year-old and Crystal Palace emerged as suitors this week too.

Right-back is an area where both West Ham and Crystal Palace simply must find a pacy, modern, young successor to their current incumbents Vladimir Coufal and Joel Ward.

Both the Hammers and Eagles could do with signing a young player who can first compete with but then ultimately succeed the ageing duo.

In Fresneda, West Ham and Palace have certainly been barking up the right tree.

AS claim both West Ham and Crystal Palace held talks with the Real Valladolid right-back’s intermediaries in London yesterday.

The Madrid-born Spain youth star had looked set for a move to Barcelona.

But they are focusing on other players and may not be able to do a deal due to financial restrictions.

It was reported last week that West Ham, Crystal Palace and Chelsea were the Premier League clubs interested in Fresneda, who is nicknamed ‘the beast’ in Spain.

The report stated the clubs would not have any problem paying Valladolid’s reported transfer fee of €8-10m (£6.8-8.5m) following their relegation from La Liga.

Now there’s been a big development after the agent of ‘the beast’ Fresneda flew to London yesterday for talks with West Ham and Crystal Palace.

And it is a blow for both West Ham boss David Moyes and his Crystal Palace counterpart Roy Hodgson.

Because it has emerged Fresneda’s agents also held talks with Sporting CP in London.

And now the Portuguese side are close to agreeing an £8.5m move according to A Bola.

“The 18-year-old right-back from Real Valladolid has given the green light to join Ruben Amorim’s project and has a five-year contract on the table. A €10million (£8.5m) deal has been agreed.”

If accurate it will be the second mutual transfer target West Ham and Palace have lost out on to Sporting this summer transfer window.Hammers and Eagles wanted to sign Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres

Both the  from Coventry this summer.

But he ended up joining Sporting in a bargain £17m deal instead and has been an instant hit with two goals in his first two games.
