Leeds United Closing In On European Finalist

Leeds United are closing in on a deal for Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Yorkshire side finally got their season off the ground yesterday with a stunning 4-3 win against early pacesetters Ipswich Town at Portman Road. New signing Joel Piroe bagged his first goal for the club on his debut and the striker’s arrival is said to be the first of many this week, with the transfer window set to close on Friday.

Leeds are looking to escape the Championship at the first time of asking following their relegation from the Premier League last season, but know that they now have to hit a run of form after a slow start.

Piroe aside, it’s been a tough week in the transfer market for the Whites, with midfield target Nadiem Amiri reportedly having a change of heart regarding a move to Elland Road, whilst a move for Genk attacker Joseph Paintsil hangs in the balance. However, Leeds are working on a number of deals and look to have made a breakthrough in negotiations with Rangers over the transfer of midfielder Glen Kamara.

The 27-year-old looks set to leave Ibrox in the next week after four years at the club, with Romano claiming that an official bid has been made by the Championship club. It is said that the Finland international has already agreed personal terms and the deal will be concluded next week.

Kamara has been an ever-present at Rangers since his arrival from Dundee in 2019, notching up 193 appearances for the club. The central midfielder played a key role in their route to the Europa League final in the 2021/22 season, where they agonisingly lost out on penalties to Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

His arrival at Elland Road would be considered a coup and would help plug the gap left by Tyler Adams, who departed to Premier League club Bournemouth earlier this month.
