Lyle Foster scored his first Premier League goal at the weekend, but he’ll never forget his Orlando Pirates roots.
Lyle Foster opened his Premier League account with a superb goal for Burnley on Sunday. He’ll always be an Orlando Pirates fan at heart though.
LYLE FOSTER AND ORLANDO PIRATES: ONCE, ALWAYS
You know how it goes. Once a Pirate always a Pirate. Lyle Foster isn’t too active on social media, but he did tweet this in October last year and clearly enjoyed it when the Buccaneers got the better of Sundowns in the MTN8 semifinals. As you all know, the Sea Robbers went all the way.
FOSTER STARTED HIS JOURNEY AT MAYFAIR
Lyle Foster was born in the year 2000 in Noordgesig, Soweto, and broke through with Orlando Pirates as a youth product. He was promoted to the Buccaneers’ first team in 2017, and his first big move abroad came two years later when Ligue 1’s Monaco came calling. All told, Foster made 11 appearances for the Sea Robbers before embarking on his European adventure.
FOSTER ADDS HIS NAME TO THE EPL RECORD BOOKS
22-year-old Lyle Foster scored his first Premier League goal yesterday in just his second appearance in the competition. It was only a consolation for Burnley in the end, who lost 3-1 to Aston Villa, but the Clarets and Bafana man will be eager to push on. They travel to Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup on Wednesday and then host Tottenham on Saturday in the Premier League.
