According to Fabrizio Romano, Brentford have reached a verbal agreement with Everton to sign Neal Maupay (27) on loan until the end of the season. The former Brentford striker is set to re-join the club on loan for the season and will have the option to make the deal permanent with a purchase option included within the deal.
In order to get the deal done before the deadline, the former Saint Étienne striker is travelling from Merseyside to London to complete a medical ahead of the pending move. The French forward joined Everton from Brighton in 2022 for a fee of around €18m. Maupay joined the Seagulls from Brentford.
Maupay’s pending move to Brentford could be seen as a temporary replacement for the suspended Ivan Toney who will be unable to play until January 2024. Upon the completion of the move, Maupay will be teaming up with former boss Thomas Frank again for the first time since 2018, when the Danish coach joined the club.
