West Ham boss David Moyes brought Emerson Palmieri to the London Stadium in the summer of 2022 for around £15 million (Daily Mail).

The 29-year-old had a tough start to life with West Ham, and it seemed as though he didn’t really fit into the Hammers system.

However, the Italy international improved massively during the final third of last season, drawing praise from Moyes in the process.

The Italian has been absolutely brilliant for the Hammers this term, and he has played a key role in our exceptional start to the campaign.

His pace and direct running down the left hand flank offers us a totally different threat to the one we have when Aaron Cresswell is playing, and he is far more energetic and mobile than his English teammate.

Emerson’s defending and positional play seems to have improved massively during the off-season as well, and he now seems to be absolutely loving life in East London.

Considering how poorly the former Chelsea man began his career with the Hammers, the turnaround has been quite remarkable.

Emerson Palmieri is quickly becoming a huge fan favourite at the London Stadium, and for good reason as well.

David Moyes deserves huge credit for signing the 29-year-old for just £15 million. That fee is now looking like an absolute bargain for West Ham when at the time, many were criticising the Scot for bringing Emerson to the club.
