INJURY UPDATE:a midfielder for Tottenham, is sidelined for the year due to a knee injury.

Due to a knee injury, Rodrigo Bentancur, a midfielder for Tottenham, will miss the remainder of the campaign.

The 25-year-old experienced the issue during Saturday’s 4-1 loss to Leicester City, which forced him to be replaced after 65 minutes.

Spurs reported that Bentancur had “ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee”.

They continued, “The midfielder will have surgery before starting his recovery with our medical experts.

The Uruguayan international was hurt after colliding with Nampalys Mendy and giving Spurs the lead over Foxes.

Although a stretcher had been ordered for him because he needed oxygen, he was able to walk away.

Bentancur has made 26 appearances for Tottenham this season and was a member of his nation’s team at the 2022 World Cup.

Hugo Lloris, the custodian, is already out for at least six weeks due to a knee injury, while midfielder Yves Bissouma requires surgery to treat a stress fracture in his left ankle. Both players play for Tottenham.

On Tuesday, the London club will play the first leg of their last-16 Champions League match away at AC Milan without midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg due to a suspension.
