David Wagner is certain Leicester City will be promoted at the end of this season, speaking to Pink Un.
The Foxes lost James Maddison and Harvey Barnes this summer and it was a shock considering the duo’s value in the bottom third last season – but their departures were always a possibility occurred following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
With the money made from player sales, they have managed to strengthen their squad with some excellent additions, including Harry Winks and England international Conor Coady.
And Enzo Maresca, who took charge of the Midlands side in the summer, has experience of working alongside Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and has been widely tipped to lead the Foxes back to the Premier League for the first time.
They performed extremely well in the early part of the season, winning 5 out of 6 matches in the league and also winning 2 matches in the Carabao Cup.
Having started the season with a 2–1 win over previous season’s play-off finalists Coventry City, they went on to defeat Huddersfield Town, Cardiff City and Rotherham United, with late winners in the final two matches.
Unfortunately for them, they were unable to make it 15 points from 15 in their opening five games of the campaign, as the Foxes suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Hull City just before the international break.
However, they were unlucky not to score something from this match as the Midlands club pressed hard in the latter stages of this match and even hit the post but could not find an equalizer in the second half.
end of game.
However, Maresca’s side responded with a 4-1 away win over Southampton after the break – and they will be full of confidence ahead of tonight’s match with Norwich.
What does David Wagner say about Leicester City?
The Canaries boss did not underestimate how difficult tonight’s match would be for his team and was full of praise for Leicester:
“They will get promoted.
It’s not a secret.
I don’t even know if we can bet on them.
Sure is not.
“This is the biggest challenge we have faced this season.
“A game we’re really looking forward to and a game we’re excited about, and a game we’re aiming to be the toughest opponents Leicester can face – the toughest night they’ll have face off during the season.
That’s what we’re going to try.”
