Monchi revolution at Aston Villa continues as Thelwell deal is revealed…..

According to sources cited by Football Insider, former Aston Villa scout Robbie Thelwell has joined Norwich City as their new head of technical scouting.

The talent scout acknowledged on LinkedIn that he and the Canaries have reached an agreement regarding the position at Carrow Road.

Thelwell’s departure occurs as Monchi, the new president of football operations at Aston Villa, continues to reform the hiring process since joining the club in the summer.

The mega-wealthy owners of Villa have granted the Spaniard the authority to assemble his own team as they want to become a leading force in Europe.

Thelwell had previously worked as a video scout for the Midlands giants before he was promoted to a first-team scout position at Villa Park in July.

He also served as a first-team scout for almost six years at Wolves. He takes Josh Appleyard’s place at Norwich, who went to Newcastle United earlier this year.

After closely collaborating with Unai Emery at Spanish club Sevilla during a successful period in their recent history, Monchi has made a revolution at Aston Villa.

Villa added five players during the summer transfer period.

For their first-team roster, Emery’s club added Moussa Diaby, Pau Torres, Youri Tielemans, Nicolo Zaniolo, and Clement Lenglet.

Jhon Duran and Alex Moreno both arrived in the January window earlier this year as a result of the Spaniard’s arrival in November last year.

Emery, who has a contract with Villa Park through June 2027, guided Villa to a seventh-place finish and qualification for the Europa Conference League the previous season.

To begin the 2023–24 season, the Midlands giants have earned nine out of a potential 15 points.
