Simon Jordan explains why West Brom is attractive to new owners with £200m claim

With a £200 million claim, Simon Jordan explains why West Brom may be appealing to new owners.
Simon Jordan has highlighted that if the club is managed well, potential new owners of West Brom will view the organisation as an investment with a potential value of £200 million.

Alistair Jones, a member of the Action for Albion committee, joined Jordan live on talkSPORT [20 September], where he discussed how the club might appeal to any prospective buyers.

Guochuan Lai is rumoured to be wanting to sell his majority stake in the club, and Jordan has said that it would be a smart investment for any possible investors.

Jordan said [20 September 11:30] during a live interview on talkSPORT: “I think people would buy this football club. Again, nobody wants to pay a man who is about to go more than is absolutely necessary.

They’ll accept the debt and liabilities as part of the price of the ticket, but it will be difficult for someone to leave with money before entering.

“We’ll see whether someone is willing to give him 30 or 35 million pounds, but I don’t think it’s a bad deal for those who believe a football team like West Bromwich Albion is capable, with a good amount of management and a little bit of money, of bringing themselves out of their current situation.

“If you look at that and say, ‘if I’ve put £35 million on the table, picked up some debts that I can restructure and pay over a period of time, and cash flow through, and [if] I have to spend another 20 or 30 [million] to get myself in a position where I might be able to get into the Premier League if I manage this football club properly and make the right managerial appointments,'” you might be able to enter the Premier League.

“All of a sudden, you have a football team that cost you 60 million pounds and is now being talked about in the range of £150 to 200 million. People may visualise the transaction once it becomes one.

good news for West Brom supporters

Although the ownership position at West Brom has seemed to be the subject of only negative and doubtful conversation, given the challenging situation they find themselves in, Jordan’s most recent remarks will offer a more upbeat perspective.

The idea that a potential new owner would be able to restore the club to the Premier League and so increase the value and atmosphere at The Hawthorns will be music to the ears of Baggies supporters.

The appropriate owner who understands the club and wants to advance them rather than just using them as an investment opportunity is obviously necessary for this to happen, but it remains entirely possible.
