Can Fulham defeat Crystal Palace and win two straight?

Jack Stroudley anticipates our journey to South London to watch Fulham play the Eagles.

Even if it wasn’t a typical workday, last week’s three points against Luton at home felt crucial. Fulham has a solid basis to build on going into this weekend’s away encounter at Selhurst Park after earning seven poPalace ints from their first five games. awarded the red cards awarded to the Eagles last season, Crystal away was strange, but it allowed Fulham to pick up an important three points following the World Cup break. Can Fulham repeat their success and win the Premier League on consecutive days?

Crystal Palace, like Fulham, has seven points after five games thanks to victories against Wolves and Sheffield United as well as a point at Brentford. We are all aware of how Hodgson will position his team to be difficult to counter and effective in the closing third. The true threat that Fulham will need to watch out for will be players like Eberechi Eze and the active Odsonne Edouard.

Due to the absence of a few key players, Palace’s roster is currently being put to the test despite being relatively small. Michael Olise, who signed a new contract in the summer, is out with a thigh injury, while James Tomkins, Jefferson Lerma, and Marc Guehi, who is a vital defender, are also injured. As a result, the team is currently in need of a custodian.

Here is how I would line up given the team news that has emerged after Marco Silva’s press conference.

I would alter the lineup from the 1-0 comeback victory over Luton by two players. The first one involves the substitution of Timothy Castagne for Antonee Robinson in defence. The fact that Castagne more than held his own against the Hatters has nothing to do with this; nonetheless, if Robinson is back, he must start for me. His speed and skill in the attacking third may be essential for us to generate the opportunities we struggled to generate last week.

The second change is the replacement of Raul Jimenez with Carlos Vinicius. However, I firmly believe that Vinicius is a lot better forward for us right now. I don’t want to write out Jimenez just yet. We must make use of his ability to link the action, and the Brazilian will feel much more confident after scoring last week against Luton.

Elsewhere I wouldn’t make too many changes. Online rumours have been circulating concerning Willian’s performances, and while I agree that he hasn’t been as dangerous as he was last season, it feels too early to make any significant adjustments. I would give the Brazilian player one more week before facing a team that is more inclined to press forward and create openings that can be exploited.

I believe this is a good time to play Palace because we may have the advantage with a few key players out and Fulham looking to make a statement after last weekend’s lacklustre performance against Luton. Similar to Fulham, I believe Crystal Palace has slightly overachieved this season because their point total hasn’t been in line with their play. I’m going to be undecided and call it a draw because this one might actually go either way.
