Exeter City injury latest as a skinful player is facing several weeks out

The 22-year-old needs a scan for a knee injury and will probably be out for at least a few weeks.

James Scott, an attacker for Exeter City, will likely miss some time due to a knee injury. The 1-0 loss at Portsmouth on Tuesday night interrupted the Grecians’ undefeated start to the season when the 22-year-old was forced off with an injury.

To determine the extent of the injury, the Scot will have a scan on Friday. However, manager Gary Caldwell acknowledged that it was likely to keep him out for a few weeks, if not longer.

After a challenging first few months in Devon, Scott enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, scoring off the bench against Wycombe on the first day of the season and then the game-winning goal against Crawley Town in the Carabao Cup. Caldwell said losing him for any amount of time would be devastating, but he hopes the injury is not as serious as may be anticipated.

When questioned about the most recent injury news during his pre-game press conference prior to the lengthy travel to Carlisle United, Caldwell responded, “James Scott has picked up a knee injury.” The fact that he hobbled before leaving has us a little concerned.

He will get a scan tomorrow, but he may not be able to work for at least a few weeks, if not longer. It is a major setback since he has worked hard and performed admirably to get to where he is, and there is still room for development so that he may become one of the league’s top strikers.

“He delivers the quality we believe he is capable of, and we hope it won’t be long before he resumes playing. He will travel with us to Carlisle for the social element, but first he will have a scan, and we anticipate that he won’t be able to work for at least a few weeks.
