NEWS UPDATE: Burnley two key players are back in pitch

Burnley’s latest setback is the loss of Matt Lowton, but the Clarets could welcome back two crucial players.
On Saturday, Burnley will play Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that Matt Lowton will miss this weekend’s Premier League match against Newcastle United.

After a foul by Raheem Sterling, the right back was forced off during Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City.

And he is now facing a period on the sidelines, adding to the club’s injury list.

However, there is some good news in midfield, with Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Robbie Brady both having a chance of making the trip to St James’ Park.

Ashley Barnes and James Tarkowski played their first games of the season without incident in midweek, while Ben Mee, Jay Rodriguez, and Jack Cork are still out.

“I’m pleased we are showing signs of getting players back with Barnesy playing good minutes the other night, Tarky coming through unscathed,” Dyche stated.

“Unfortunately, we lost Matt Lowton, which is unfortunate.”

“He’s almost certainly out; he’s not going to figure.” He had a minor twist in his knee and ankle. We are unsure about timeframes.

“However, there are signs that others are getting back into shape, so we’ll hope to improve that fitness over the international break and get more bodies back.”

“It’s up in the air with Robbie and Johann. Jay Rod is making good progress, but he is still not there.

“Corky is making good progress and will be back on the grass over the coming days, not with us, the sports science team.”

Dyche hopes to be able to call on a complete squad for the visit to West Bromwich Albion following the international break, with the exception of Cork and potentially now Lowton.
