Wolves return to Carabao Cup action tomorrow night when they face Ipswich Town in the third round.
Wanderers are trying to rebound from last weekend’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Luton Town.
Wolves are the only Premier League team yet to defeat the Hatters this season.
It will be an opportunity for Gary O’Neil to experiment and get minutes into the legs of certain players who haven’t seen much action yet.
Enso Gonzalez is one player O’Neil should consider deploying against the Tractor Boys…
It is time for Enso Gonzalez to shine for the Wolves.
O’Neil is likely to make major changes to the starting lineup against Luton.
And he has to think about giving Gonzalez a chance.
Gonzalez joined Wolves from Libertad the day before the transfer deadline, for a rumoured sum of about £10 million.
His acquisition came as a surprise, but the club is quite enthused about the Paraguayan sensation.
“He’s an exciting player,” said Matt Hobbs (Wolves official) at the time of his arrival.
“Creativity, playing forward, being aggressive in possession and doing his work out of possession, but what he does offensively was more important to me.” Most players do the other half of the work if you get the appropriate folks, but I’m excited to see what Enso brings us in the future.
“His personality will be important for us, and we’ve seen from Joao the type of grit a lot of South American players have.”
Pedro Neto has played every minute of every Premier League game for Wolves this season.
This is clearly an opportunity to rest the top player ahead of Saturday’s game against Manchester City.
This is clearly an opportunity to rest the top player ahead of Saturday’s game against Manchester City.Hwang Hee-chan has also recently played a lot.
Pablo Sarabia, maybe from the right, is expected to play.
But it would be wonderful to see Gonzalez have a chance against a Championship side as well.
Because the game is at Portman Road, Gonzalez, 18, may be put in a little too deep.
But he’ll need a game like this to demonstrate his abilities and establish himself as a legitimate alternative for O’Neil to utilise in the Premier League.
