PAINFUL INJURY: Watford winger has a hamstring injury.

The winger suffered the injury during the weekend’s goalless stalemate with Tottenham.

Watford are waiting to learn the extent of Ismaila Sarr’s hamstring injury suffered against Tottenham.

Nigel Pearson, the manager, has already ruled the 21-year-old out of his side’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa on Tuesday night, but will be hopeful that the absence is temporary.

“We are still waiting to see what the extent of the injury is,” Pearson stated.
“We’ll deal with it, and I’m not going to get ahead of myself, but he’s been such a positive player for us.”

“After tomorrow’s game, it is an FA Cup weekend again, so hopefully we will have him available for the next Premier League game against Everton, but we don’t know at this moment in time.”

Pearson’s team travels to Birmingham on the back of a seven-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, which has seen them climb out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Victory over Villa, who are one point and one place lower in the table than the Hornets, would be a big statement of intent in the battle for top-flight survival.

“I don’t take anything for granted in football,” Pearson continued.

“Whenever you play sides in and around your own situation, the benefits of a win are enormous, and we go into the game determined to win.”

“It will be another important match for us, but they have all been significant fixtures in recent weeks.”

“We can’t get too caught up in how games are billed and promoted because the players have to go out and perform.” That is the end result.”

Pearson will also be without full-back Kiko Femenia, who is out with a hamstring injury, but striker Danny Welbeck might return soon.

The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker has been out of action since October.
