Rangers squad revealed injury crisis opens Viaplay Cup door to 3 fringe stars

Rangers’ team for Livingston has been confirmed, as an injury situation allows three periphery players to compete in the Viaplay Cup.
The roster is small, but Beale is counting on a few of his peripheral players to step up and carry him through.

Rangers host Livingston in the Viaplay Cup tonight, with a trip to Hampden on the line.

However, it is one in which Michael Beale will have to strike a balance between improvement and rotation as injuries continue to decimate his ranks in the midst of a congested schedule. Scott Wright and Rabbi Matondo were both injured against Motherwell at the weekend, and with Tom Lawrence suffering another setback, the squad is looking thin on the ground.

However, Beale’s lieutenant Neil Banfield is banking on depth to get through it, hinting that a few fringe stars may get an opportunity to shine. Youngster Bailey Rice may be hoping for a chance to play after coming off the bench against Motherwell, and he might join Ryan Jack in a new-look midfield. But who will go first remains to be seen. Kemar Roofe could replace or play alongside Cyriel Dessers.

Meanwhile, Abdallah Sima will be waiting his turn in the wings. And, with Ridvan Yilmaz seeking to unseat Borna Barisic once more, could there be rotation in the full-back areas?
