Paul Hurst’s is full-back with recent injuries sparking below…..

Injuries are a concern for all four full-backs as we enter a new week.

Following the weekend, Paul Hurst acknowledged that he is unsure whether of his full-backs would be available for Grimsby Town’s upcoming match.

Before Michee Efete took a heavy fall and departed the game on a stretcher to compound Town’s injury issues at full-back, Anthony Glennon, Jordan Cropper, and Danny Amos were already ruled out for the trip to AFC Wimbledon.

Efete was transported to the hospital for MRI scans, but the team announced on social media that he had been released and could potentially be available for the next match if the injury was not as serious as first thought.

Grimsby Town’s recent goal-scoring issues have made their problem keeping clean sheets worse.

After the Wimbledon match, the Mariners manager gave updates on the other three players. It’s possible that late decisions may be made on a few of them before Tranmere Rovers’ visit to Blundell Park the following Saturday.

Hurst said, “Jordan Cropper won’t be back for the next game.” “I’m hoping Anthony [Glennon] will train this week. We’ll evaluate him at that time based on how he seems and whether he recovers well.

In the case of Danny [Amos], it was his back. Last week, one of their players won a header over him, but as a result, he received a knee to the back. He didn’t start working out until Thursday of last week, and when he did, he stopped because it hurt too much.

“You’d think that issue would be resolved in time for the upcoming training week. The best-case scenario is that we have three of the four back; nevertheless, we may not have any back at all. Just keep an eye on that as the week goes on.

Hurst shouldn’t have a problem making a selection if everything goes as planned with the recuperation process, but even then, none of them will likely be at their best, so some caution will still need to be exercised.

Town does have players who can step in when necessary. Young Evan Khouri performed admirably at Wimbledon and, putting aside the moment of distraction that led to the goal, was likely the team’s finest player for the afternoon.

There is also the ever-dependable Harry Clifton, who has previously filled in on both sides, most notably as a right wing-back away at Salford City. Given the circumstance, a switch to the back three once more seems very likely.

This season, when injuries have struck Grimsby, they have tended to build up in one or two places, giving the manager selection headaches every time. The team’s versatility may be put to the test once more this weekend.
