Edson Alvarez of West Ham allayed injury worries after being substituted early in Saturday’s Premier League loss to Manchester City by arriving back from international duty on Thursday afternoon.
Alvarez was removed from the game on the 66th minute with the score tied at one goal each, but late goals from Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland helped City come back to win 3-1 and keep their perfect record.
Hammers manager David Moyes expressed concerns before to the game when Alvarez was tardy in returning from Mexico’s international duties, wherein Mexico drew 3-3 with Uzbekistan in an exhibition match in Georgia early on Thursday morning.
In his news conference, Moyes stated, “Edson Alvarez had a delayed flight and returned home at 3pm [on Thursday].” It is a necessary component of international breaks.
However, the 25-year-old claimed to have been fatigued rather than injured as he spoke to reporters in the mixed zone of the London Stadium.
Hammers supporters will be relieved to hear that news because Alvarez has excelled since moving to east London from Ajax in the summer and because the club’s schedule is about to get busier as European competition resumes this week.

The eleven players that competed against Manchester City last time out in the Premier League are all back in the starting lineup as David Moyes makes nine changes from the team that began play in midweek.

Bowen will aid Michail Antonio in the assault.
Mohammed Kudus, who scored twice against TSC, Danny Ings, a former Liverpool striker, and Pablo Fornals, who previously scored three goals against today’s opponents, are just a few of Moyes’ choices on the bench.
