The Ibrox management is unlikely to be able to afford the 47-year-old manager, according to journalist Rory Smith, who maintains that Marcelo Gallardo has little chance of becoming the next manager of the Rangers.
Smith made his comments on The Monday Night Club following Rangers’ confirmation that they had fired Michael Beale following a subpar start to the season.
Any time the Gers have to name a new manager, it is a crucial time. Unfortunately, there is already a sizable distance between them and the Scottish Premiership leaders. Additionally, they were eliminated from the Champions League during the qualifying rounds.
There have already been a few people named as potential candidates. The Daily Record even compiled a list of potential choices the Rangers might wish to consider. And Marcelo Gallardo was one of the names that was mentioned.
The next manager of Rangers won’t be able to afford Marcelo Gallardo.
Gallardo has not yet managed in Europe. However, given that he departed River Plate about a year ago, one would assume that he would have received a plethora of offers.
According to a report in The Daily Record, Rangers would have a difficult time persuading Gallardo to join them at Ibrox. When Smith was told about him, the journalist said he didn’t think the Argentinean would be appointed.
“After what he did at River, it seems puzzling that he is unemployed. However, I’ll state with certainty that Rangers cannot afford Marcelo Gallardo. He informed The Monday Night Club that wouldn’t take place.
Gers must produce something exceptional for their next appointment.
Rangers must make a strong impression with their upcoming choice. People like Michael Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst had advantages. However, neither appeared to be at the top of their game as managers when they accepted the Gers position.
Van Bronckhorst did, in fairness, assist Rangers in coming agonisingly close to winning the Europa League. And it’s undeniable that Beale is a top-notch coach. Rangers, however, did not benefit from the appointments.
Gallardo’s appointment would instantly spark interest. He is not the only candidate, though, who would thrill the supporters.
Rangers’ lacklustre campaign start may be the issue they are currently facing. The task ahead of Beale’s successor will therefore be enormous.
