Barnsley’s leading scorer Kieffer Moore will miss the rest of the season due to illness.
According to medical advice, Kieffer Moore of Barnsley will miss the remainder of the campaign.
The 26-year-old has not played since being injured on February 9 during the Tykes’ 4-1 victory at Gillingham after colliding heads with Gabriel Zakuani.
Moore, who leads the Tykes in scoring with 18 goals this year, recorded five goals in six games.
“The player’s welfare is the first thing that we think about,” assistant coach Dale Tonge stated.
According to Tonge, who spoke to BBC Radio Sheffield, “We’re following medical advice from the best experts we’ve engaged, and we’ve been told that Kieffer should be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
He is quite unhappy, but he has been present in and around the locker room with the players, offering assistance when required.
He serves as a leader inside the group, and his continued presence has given the lads a boost and will promote camaraderie.
Moore, a former striker for Rotherham and Ipswich, spent the night in the hospital after getting hurt.
He moved from Ipswich to Barnsley in January 2018 for an unknown amount and a contract that lasts until 2021.
