Stoke City key player have been ruied out for injury

Bojan Krkic has been discharged from a hospital in Spain following a successful knee operation, according to Stoke City boss Mark Hughes.

The ACL injury the Spanish playmaker sustained against Rochdale in the FA Cup fourth round was operated on in Barcelona.

Hughes was relieved to find that the injury was not as serious as first thought, but Bojan won’t be back until at least the summer.

After being sidelined for the Manchester City game owing to an ankle injury, Stoke is hoping to have Irish international Jon Walters back for the FA Cup match at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

But Marc Wilson, Erik Pieters, Ryan Shawcross, and Stephen Ireland are still unable to play in the game at Ewood Park.

Jon Walters is the only absent player who ostensibly appears to be able to play on Thursday, according to Hughes.

“We only left him out on Wednesday in the hopes that we would still be able to use him on Saturday.

He has a minor issue that needs to be properly managed, and that is what we have been doing with him. This week, he hasn’t trained, but we’ll see how he is today.

Hughes also commended Frank Lampard for giving Oliver Shenton, a teenager from Stoke, his Manchester City jersey at the conclusion of Wednesday’s game.

Two days after his mother’s burial, 17-year-old Shenton was playing, so Lampard went to find him and gave him the keepsake.

That is a wonderful touch, commented Hughes. Frank has undoubtedly lost close family members as well, so perhaps it struck a chord with him. I believe that exhibits his class.

He has demonstrated great maturity. Obviously, this is a challenging moment for him and his family, but my motivation for wanting to get him on the pitch wasn’t motivated by feelings of sympathy; rather, it was because he deserved the opportunity and is a good pro—a young player for whom we have big ambitions.

He deserves praise for persevering through a very trying time for himself and his family while being completely devoted to the game and eager to advance.
