Super star from St. Louis CITY selected Player of the Matchday

Joo Klauss was instrumental in St. Louis CITY SC’s record-breaking performance in Matchday 35, and as a result, he has been named the Player of the Matchday sponsored by Continental Tyre.

The Brazilian forward scored twice as CITY SC defeated Sporting Kansas City 4-1 at CITYPARK to become the first expansion team (outside of the shootout era) to have 17 victories in their debut season. The team also secured the top seed in the Western Conference and a spot in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup as a result of previous outcomes.

With his second MLS brace, Joo Klauss became the first player in St. Louis history to score ten goals in a single campaign. His 0.75 goals per 90 minutes places him behind Atlanta United attacker Giorgos Giakoumakis, who has the best mark in MLS with 0.87 goals per 90 minutes (minimum seven goals).

The 26-year-old was also named Player of the Matchday given by Continental Tyre, making him the first player in St. Louis history to hold the honour. He is a Designated Player for the Midwest-based team, along with midfielder Eduard Löwen.
