According to BBC reporter Kenny McIntyre, Kevin Muscat is now considered a “outsider” for the position of Rangers manager after Frank Lampard was eliminated from contention.
Gers fired Michael Beale over the weekend and have already started the process of replacing him. Final interviews are scheduled for next week, and Londoner Frank Lampard has already been disqualified.
However, Muscat has apparently fallen in the standings among the candidates as well, according to McIntyre, who revealed what he was told while appearing on BBC.
He said, “I’ve been informed that Frank Lampard, Pascal Jansen, Kevin Muscat, and Philippe Celement have all been contacted.”
Lampard is no longer a possibility.
“Muscat is an outsider, I’ve heard. Although Clement is a free agent, Jansen is a serious contender and has other suitors.
A few days ago, many people placed Lampard and Muscat firmly at the top of the list for the most likely next manager of the Rangers, but now it appears that neither is in the running.
His words about being devoted to his current position were obviously expected given that he is currently employed, but Rangers’ decision to distance themselves from him is undoubtedly an intriguing move.
The Ibrox club may be priced out of a transfer by Clement, who has previously travelled to Glasgow to begin talks about the position due to competition from Saudi Arabia, and Pascal Jansen, whose team AZ Alkmaar is doing well.
The club may therefore be forced to choose a manager from a pool they are not currently really interested in, which can never end well.
As a fan looking in from the outside, it doesn’t look good right now, so hoping things improve rapidly and become clearer.
