NEWS NOW: West Brom hero is in denger…..

Albion will be watching John Swift’s calf injury with bated breath after the leading scorer limped out of tonight’s defeat at Blues.
Swift scored the first goal, his sixth of the season, at St. Andrew’s before the visitors were controversially held back by a controversial penalty.

The Baggies went on to lose 3-1, with a late third sealing the deal for the hosts before of the international break, by which time Albion had also lost in-form Swift, adding to Carlos Corberan’s injury worries.

Swift will undergo a scan to determine the degree of the muscular condition.

Albion are already without strikers Daryl Dike until the new year and Josh Maja until at least mid-November. Jeremy Sarmiento will be out until the international break resumes, and any Swift injury would leave only Jed Wallace and Brandon Thomas-Asante as recognised senior strikers.

“If I’d known he was going to get hurt, I’d have taken him off instead of Wallace,” an angry Corberan remarked. “You never know in football. He was fine, no one requested for the change, and then he got a calf injury.”It’s far too early. True, we are currently dealing with several injuries to our attacking players. Maja, Sarmiento, and possibly now him. It raises the difficulty.”

Swift is leading the charge for Albion in front of goal this season, and with six goals so far, he is only one goal short of his season total from last year. Swift did not achieve six goals until April of previous semester.

With no other options, academy graduate Tom Fellows, 20, took Swift’s place, and the youngster impressed on his first taste of Championship football.

Meanwhile, Corberan was left completely depressed and disturbed by referee James Linington’s questionable decision to award a penalty against Cedric Kipre, much to the amusement of everyone inside St. Andrew’s.
