Gavin Bell, the football manager, delivers an update on Campbell Chesser, Dom Sheed, and Elliot Yeo.

Elliot Yeo, a top player for the

West Coast Eagles

strained his calf during Friday’s practise game but is anticipated to be available in the early rounds of the season.

Dom Sheed and Campbell Chesser, comrades in the midfield, are expected to miss extended periods of time while they heal from lower leg ailments.

Sheed will likely miss the first half of the season after suffering an injury in a tackle against Fremantle. He will need syndesmosis surgery.

draught pick in the first round Chesser, who injured his ankle after landing awkwardly, will have rehabilitation for a comparable amount of time and might also require surgery.

“There’s no one to blame, but we’ve had a bad run of luck on the injury front,” Football Manager Gavin Bell stated. “Unfortunately, Elliot, Dom, and Campbell all sustained injuries early in the practise game.”

Elliott hurt his calf, but we anticipate him to recover and be ready to play again in about a month.

“Unfortunately, Dom will need surgery to repair his syndesmosis after having his left leg twisted underneath him in a tackle during the first five minutes of Friday’s game.

It was particularly distressing for Campbell to sustain a long-term injury in his debut game for the team following a promising start to his training career.

We are still evaluating the ligament and cartilage damage in his ankle, but he will certainly miss at least the first part of the season.

Prior to Sunday’s AAMI Community Series match at Fremantle Oval against the Dockers, Connor West will be evaluated for some plantar fascia pain.
