What Steve Cooper stated about the’spectacular’ Nottingham Forest player as a mystery for the Reds to solve
The most recent Nottingham Forest news is that the Reds and Crystal Palace drew 0-0 at Selhurst Park.
On a pleasant October evening in the capital, one name predominated the post-match conversation, and it frequently came with a puff of the cheeks.
Murillo has played in two Premier League games thus far, and he already seems like a good find for Nottingham Forest. He already has the look of the real deal.
The Brazilian stood out against Brentford in his debut a week ago. But he took another step forward in the 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Reds as a whole could be compared to it. They are moving forward. Selhurst Park was lacking only a goal, which Murillo came dangerously close to supplying.
The pass to Morgan Gibbs-White came first. That was wonderful. Gibbs-White observed the stunning diagonal ball land on his foot. It rebounded off the post and into Sam Johnstone’s arms as the attacker attempted to cushion it home with an equally superb first-time effort, leaving him with his head in his hands.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers player roared before praising his teammate’s initiative. Just before halftime, Gibbs-White gave the defender additional praise for an incredible display of skill that, had it been successful, would have been a contender for goal of the season.
Everything about the run, including the dodging of Palace players and the shot and follow-up effort, was beautiful. And it wasn’t just that; Murillo’s tearing up of the pitch was accompanied by confidence.
He’s going to become a fan favourite for sure. No need for that; he is already. This is so because in addition to his flare, the summer signing also stood out for his strong defending, as evidenced by his countless headers, tackles, and clearances.
Head coach Steve Cooper acknowledged that the first-half shot by Murillo had gotten a lot of questions. “From what he did to get there, which was incredible, it turned out to be the chance of the game.
“But I thought his approach was the same throughout. Both his passing accuracy and range were exceptional.
His poise and decision-making with the ball. We wish to strive to achieve it.
I’ll also take into account the fact that he heads a lot of balls away, makes many of interceptions and tackles, and defends well in his position to halt attacks. Both of those qualities and what he demonstrated with the ball are exactly what you want from your center-back.
