Wigan Warriors recruit England and ex-St Helens prop Luke Thompson to a four-year contract.
Wigan Warriors have signed England international prop Luke Thompson on a four-year contract from National Rugby League club Canterbury Bulldogs.
The 28-year-old, who won the 2019 Super League Grand Final with Wigan rivals St Helens, appeared in 42 NRL games for the Bulldogs but was limited by injuries.
He missed much of 2023 due to a Lisfranc ailment with his foot after participating in England’s World Cup campaign.
“I can’t wait to be back playing in the Super League,” Thompson remarked.
“It’s a fantastic time to be joining Wigan.” They’re playing fantastic rugby, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
In addition to his NRL career, where he was well regarded for his efforts at Belmore, the former Saint, who appeared in 165 domestic games in the northern hemisphere, also represented Great Britain on the 2019 Tour under Wayne Bennett.
“Luke is an outstanding acquisition for the club,” Warriors head coach Matt Peet remarked. He is a capable front-rower with a plenty of experience.
“We look forward to welcoming him and his family to the club.”
