John Eustace has ruled himself out of the Rangers manager’s race because the ‘process has gone too far’ – Alex Crook
According to Alex Crook, John Eustace will not be selected as the new Rangers manager since the process has progressed too far for fresh names to be added.
The former Birmingham City manager left St Andrew’s on Monday (9 October), despite the Blues’ current sixth-place finish in the Championship. Eustace had been linked with the vacant manager’s role at Ibrox earlier in the season when Michael Beale was originally under threat of dismissal.
But he is unlikely to succeed Beale in Glasgow, according to talkSports’ Crook, who claims that the interview process for fresh applicants is already too far along for a new name to enter the race for the Ibrox dugout at this point.
“I’m told the process has gone too far for any new contender to be added, so he will miss out,” he remarked on talkSport (10 October, 9:28). Former Monaco manager Philippe Clement is a strong contender. I’m sure many Rangers supporters will be eager to see him play.
“Kevin Muscat, a former Rangers player, has done really well in Japan and Australia; he’s a bit of an Ange Postecoglou disciple, so it’ll be interesting to see how that one goes.”
“Scott Parker was considered but talkSport has spoken to sources close to the former Fulham manager, but he wants to take a bit more time out so he won’t be the new Rangers manager.”
With both Parker and Eustace ruled out, it appears that we have our final two options to take over at Ibrox as the Light Blues attempt to get their season back on track after a rocky start to the season under
Beale.
Parker’s style of play would not have gone over well at Ibrox, with Bournemouth and Fulham impressing since the former England midfielder left both teams, and his sluggish and laborious style of play would not have won over many Rangers fans.
It would imply that a decision between Muscat and Clement is close to being made in the coming days; it is a toss-up.
