In the following days, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are scheduled to play friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.
Before Nigeria’s forthcoming matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique, Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro reportedly devised ways to fill in for the injured and Ola Aina.
However, his clubmate and fellow countryman Aina is unable to play in the next friendlies due to an injury for which there is no set return date.
Peseiro has recalled Sadiq Umar, who recently piqued Manchester United’s interest, and Empoli defender Tyrone Ebuehi to fill the vacuum left by these injuries. They will take the place of the injured Forest pair.
The Portuguese coach believes that Umar is the best option to replace Awoniyi in the starting lineup, despite the fact that he hasn’t scored a goal since returning from a protracted injury.
Ebuehi has been performing admirably for Empoli, which makes him a good stand-in for the injured Ola Aina.
Jordan Torunarigha of KAA Gent and Bright Osayi-Samuel are both suspected by local media to not be totally fit for the next matches, although Peseiro’s worries have been allayed by Torunarigha’s recent performance for Gent against KRC Genk.
On October 13 and 16, 2023, matches between Nigeria, Mozambique, and Saudi Arabia are planned to take place in Portugal.
