The midfielder sustained an injury that will keep him out for months, according to the most recent Nottingham Forest news.
Lewis O’Brien, a midfielder for Nottingham Forest, has updated his followers on social media following surgery for an injury he sustained while out on loan.
The 24-year-old sustained an ankle injury earlier this month while competing for Middlesbrough on loan against Watford in the division. It happens after he returned from a stint with DC United and inked a season-long loan agreement with the Teesside club.
Michael Carrick, the manager of the Boro, announced last week that the midfielder would visit a surgeon and a specialist on the injury. Now that the issue has been fixed, O’Brien has announced that he underwent successful surgery this week.

Since joining the team on loan, O’Brien has played five times for Middlesbrough in the Championship. His most recent two appearances were made as an emergency left-back due to injuries at his loan club’s left-back position.
The player moved to Forest from Huddersfield in the summer of 2022, but because Forest competed in the Premier League, he had little effect. He was on the verge of signing a loan agreement with Blackburn in January, but the deal collapsed at the last minute, forcing him to sign with DC United, then led by Wayne Rooney, in March.
Lewis will be absent for a while. Disappointingly, it might take two to three months, he told TeesideLive. At the beginning of the following week, he will see a surgeon. We can only hope that after his operation, he will join us for recovery and therapy.
“He’s a great kid and character, and he’ll work hard to be in shape as soon as he can. I feel terrible for him because he’s gotten along with everyone so well, and it’s a great blow to both Lewis and us. We’ll cooperate with him to return him as soon as we can.
“The ankle has some minor injury, and the tibia is fractured. It’s a shame because it was harmless. He took a small kick at the same time that his foot became trapped in the ground. Really sad, but football is football, and Lewis will do his best to make the best of the situation, so we’ll have to get over it quickly.
O’Brien’s future at Forest is in question. Please explain in the comments section.
