INJURY UPDATE: Washington Commanders Key man running back cut by with injury settlement

ALEXANDER PARK Jonathan Williams, a former running back with the Detroit Lions, has been waived by the Washington Commanders due to an injury settlement.

Williams participated in five games in 2020 for the Lions. He added four catches for 21 yards to his one yard of running. On Thanksgiving of that year, Detroit lost badly to the Houston Texans, and Matt Patricia’s final game as the Lions’ head coach featured all of those touches. Williams played in Washington for the past two seasons, starting two games while making a career-high 13 appearances in 2022.

Emmanuel Moseley returned to practice, but the Lions are unsure of when the cornerback will make his debut.

The Lions’ new-look backfield, consisting of first-round pick Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, will make its debut in a few days. Jamaal Williams and D’Andre Swift are replaced by Montgomery and Gibbs, while Craig Reynolds is reinstated to the 53-man roster and Zonovan Knight is added to the practice squad. Montgomery played for the Chicago Bears for the previous four seasons, whereas Gibbs was an outstanding and versatile star at Alabama.
