SO SAD: what a shocking, powerfull injury from a key player….

The Dolphins’ playmaker Kodi Nikorima was left bleeding after a violent head collision with teammate Tom Gilbert during Friday night’s inaugural Brisbane derby, which the Broncos won 18–12.

In the Brisbane derby, the Broncos took the early lead when Jesse Arthars streaked over the try line while spreading the ball to the left.

Nikorima had just been substituted into the match for Tesi Niu, who was hurt.

But after colliding head-on with Gilbert during a tackle, he suddenly had blood streaming from his head.

For Nine, pundit Peter Psaltis stated, “Kodi Nikorima won’t be on the field long here. He came out of that very awkwardly and he’s opened up straight away.”

“That was nasty.”

Ray Stone replaced Nikorima on the field while he was evaluated for a head injury.

Gilbert earlier provoked an all-out brawl by roughing up Adam Reynolds.

In the sixteenth minute, the Broncos halfback attempted a cut-out ball on the right edge but flung it over the sideline.

Gilbert informed Reynolds of this by standing up in his grill.

“This is it,” exclaimed Cameron Smith of Nine as Dolphins and Broncos gear erupted from every direction.

“It wouldn’t be a derby without a bit of argy-bargy!”Added Psaltis.
