TAMPA – On the injury report, starting wide receiver Nico Collins and starting defensive tackle Maliek Collins of the Texans are listed as officially questionable.
Several sources claim that they will not be playing on Sunday at NRG Stadium against the Tennessee Titans since neither player was able to practice all week.
“Phillip has been working hard throughout the offseason, training camp, into the season, it hasn’t changed,” offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton said. “He understands that he has a great opportunity to show that he is an every-down player. It was important for our offense for him to make that play down in the red zone, and we expect that he’ll be able to make more plays.”
Texans rookie offensive guard Kenyon Green left the game in the fourth quarter with a shoulder-pectoral injury and was cleared after undergoing a magnetic resonance imaging exam Monday, according to a league source.
Nico Collins’s absence will see a big role for Phillip Dorsett. The Miami native, a former first-round choice of the Indianapolis Colts, scored a touchdown last Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton stated, “Phillip has been working hard throughout the offseason, training camp, and into the season, and it hasn’t changed.” He is aware of the excellent chance he has to demonstrate his ability to play every down. He made that play in the red zone, which was crucial for our offense, and we anticipate more plays from him.
According to a league source, Texans rookie offensive guard Kenyon Green left the game in the fourth quarter due to a shoulder-pectoral injury. On Monday, he underwent a magnetic resonance imaging scan and was cleared.
Despite having a dubious injury report, Texas A&M’s first-round draft pick is scheduled to participate.
Rasheem Green, the starting defensive end, was added to the injury report with a knee injury and was classified as questionable and limited.
Due to illness, offensive lineman A.J. Cann missed practice all week and is doubtful. In his absence, Justin McCray would start for the Texans. Despite having a hand injury that raises doubts, McCray played all out and is anticipated to play.
Tyron Johnson, a wide receiver that was previously with the Las Vegas Raiders, was signed by the Texans and made his team debut on Wednesday.
However, Nico Collins’ absence is a setback to the Texans’ offensive. At an average of 16.9 yards per reception, he has 18 catches for 305 yards.
Texans coach Lovie Smith stated, “Nico’s position, of course, he has become more and more of what we are doing offensively.” “Some of our offensive growth has been attributed to that production.”
Collins, who signed a two-year, $17 million contract this offseason, was injured when defensive end Rasheem Green sacked quarterback Carr.
This season, Collins, 27, has tallied 11 tackles, including two for losses and two quarterback hits.
During the previous season, Collins had 29 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks, nine tackles for loss, and seven quarterback hits.
Josh Jacobs, the running back for the Raiders, amassed 143 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the second half, making the Texans’ run defense more exposed without Collins.
Maliek is our three-technique, according to Smith. “Everything begins in the defensive line up front. The three-technique position is the hub of the defensive line. We suffered a great deal playing without him—I believe he only had ten plays. Some of our issues can be linked to the absence of a player like that.
