THOMAS — Both running back Dameon Pierce and cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. of Houston had their rookie seasons ended on Saturday when they were placed on the injured list.
Due to a sore hamstring, Stingley—the third overall selection in the 2022 draft—has missed the last four games. He had 43 tackles, one interception, five pass defenses, and he started the first nine games.

On a poor squad that has only won one game this season, Pierce has been one of the few shining stars. The Florida native, selected in the fourth round, sprained his ankle during Houston’s loss to Dallas last Saturday.

This season, he has started every game for the Texans and leads all rookies in rushing yards (939). This season, Pierce has four touchdowns on the ground and one through catch.

The Texans will turn to seasoned players Rex Burkhead and Dare Ogunbowale to step in for Pierce.

When Houston hosts the 10-3 Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, the team hopes to end an eight-game losing streak.
