In light of the defensive injury concerns facing the Reds, Marc Guehi has been officially announced as a Man United transfer target.
Manchester United has experienced significant injury problems across the board, but the defense has recently been completely destroyed. It is definitely far from ideal that the Old Trafford team is now without their first-choice back four.
Erik ten Hag is aware that accidents can occasionally be caused by more than just misfortune. Consider Raphael Varane as an example; he will inevitably have little issues that will ruin his season.
Because of this, don’t be shocked if the manager moves to add a new central defender—possibly as early as January.
Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace is reportedly considered among the possibilities, according to Football Insider. The 23-year-old defender “is a target” for United, per their report. Despite the fact that other prospective purchasers will compete with them.
The Reds are reportedly “very much in the market” for a new center defender before the end of the season. The team is eager to expand their alternatives following the long-term injury to Lisandro Martinez and Varane’s persistent absences.
Guehi has had a stellar few years with Crystal Palace, and teams from Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle have all been watching him closely.
The defender, whose contract with Palace expires in 2026, has established himself in the England team, so his acquisition will not be cheap.
I hope this agreement goes through, but I think it will happen in the summer of next year instead of January. I simply cannot see Palace giving up one of their most valuable assets during the mid-season transfer window. United is currently extremely strapped as well.
