IMPRESSIVE: The Detroit Lions Have NO ANSWER From The NFL…

Bucky Brooks, a former NFL player and scout, has extensive knowledge of this league and offers insightful observations in his notebook. In this session, we discuss:

the straightforward strategy powering one of the finest football defences.
the secret to the modern game’s most powerful ground strike.

But first, let’s take a look at one franchise that is DEFINITELY growing.

Everyone enjoys Cinderella stories. This explains why football fans are drawn to the Detroit Lions from coast to coast. People may unite behind this inspiring tale of rags to riches because it has an obvious rags-to-riches character.

Keep in mind that Detroit is one of just four current NFL teams (the others being Cleveland, Jacksonville, and Houston) that has never advanced to the Super Bowl. Since winning their last NFL title in 1957, the Lions have only had one postseason triumph. Since 1993, long before the NFC North ever existed, they have not won a division championship. (In that season, Detroit won the NFC Central.) This team, which is currently in its 94th NFL season, has never even had back-to-back seasons with double-digit victories.

To cut a long tale short, this franchise hasn’t exactly been a league leader. But the Lions have put together a valiant 13-3 run dating back to late November. This isn’t only a motivational blip, either.

The Detroit Pistons are a legit squad.

Managing director Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell have turned a perennial underdog into a serious Super Bowl contender. And they have achieved this by putting together a team consisting of great players with working-class mindsets. The Lions are a feisty, tough-minded team with the ability to play bully ball against the league’s heavyweights. They also embody the rugged pride of the Motor City.

Everyone recalls Campbell’s legendary first news conference, in which he fervently argued for assembling a group that would “bite a kneecap off.” Campbell was obviously trying to create a tough team in his own image, but many people merely laughed at his witty remarks and didn’t take him seriously. As a result, Detroit has performed championship-caliber complementary football better than expected.

The Lions are among the top 10 teams in scoring, total offence, and total defence after a fast 5-1 start that has given them sole control of first place in the NFC North. The club is really doing well in all three areas, with former Pro Bowl punter Jack Fox frequently turning the field with his powerful kicks. Detroit is also developing into a team capable of winning in a variety of ways that can compete for championships.
