INJURY NEWS: emerges concern injury……..

Alan Hutton, a former full-back for Aston Villa, is joining us as our exclusive columnist. He will share his opinions on the most talked-about topics at Villa Park every week.

Alan Hutton claims that while John McGinn was playing for Scotland on the international stage, he sustained a minor leg injury.

McGinn, 29, played the entire 90 minutes of Scotland’s 2-0 loss in Spain during their qualifying match for Euro 2024, and he was named on the bench for their friendly match against France on Tuesday, October 17.

McGinn was brought on as a late substitute by Steve Clarke, allowing the midfielder for Aston Villa to earn his 60th cap for the Scotland national team.

Hutton expressed his happiness at seeing his friend succeed, and the former right-back also disclosed that McGinn’s initial benching was due to an injury problem.

Hutton told Villa News, “I wasn’t surprised [to see him on the bench].”

He appeared to be a little tight in his legs when I spoke to him.

“It was great that he played for his 60th cap; it’s an amazing accomplishment, and he still has a lot of playing left in him.

“It was good to see that these guys in the squad who show up for every camp but don’t get the minutes they want have been given a chance after everything—Seville, the weather, and the excitement of qualifying. It’s good to observe.

The severity of McGinn’s injury is still unknown, but given that he was still able to participate in the last minutes of Scotland’s 4-1 loss in Lille, it seems likely that he will be OK to start Sunday (October 22) at Villa Park against West Ham.

On Friday, October 20, Unai Emery is scheduled to address the media, and he may offer an update regarding the midfield player for Aston Villa.
